bigcoolblue
is inspired by avionic systems where, for reasons relating
to safety critical certification, the software is written to draw straight
onto the cockpit display. The fewer libraries and APIs between the avionic functions
and the display the better - as that makes it simpler to prove the correctness
of the code.
bigcoolblue
doesn't claim to be in the same league as the companies that
produce avionic systems, but we do enjoy working at that level of immediacy
with the display through the
Java 2D API.
We're also very intrigued by one particular question -
"Will people ever value a digital artifact - like the
Claw Chronometre
- in the same way that they value a Rolex?"
We suspect probably
not at the moment. But people do value their iPhones as repositories for digital
artifacts, so maybe it's just a matter of time before the artifacts themselves
become valuable.
bigcoolblue
is based on the
Mornington Peninsula
in Victoria, Australia. And we're
very lucky
that we are.
